The biggest red flags, and they’re in almost everything.

After I found this out and started to really watch what I was buying for the myself and the fam, I feel SO much better.

Here’s why you should avoid these “ingredients”⬇️

🚫Enriched = stripped & replaced – nutrients are removed during processing (like in white flour) and then only a few are added back, leaving the food less nutritious than its whole form.

🚫Fortified = synthetic additives – extra vitamins/minerals are artificially added in, but the body often absorbs them less effectively than nutrients from real food.

🚫Folic acid – a synthetic form of vitamin B9, while folate (naturally found in foods) is what the body actually needs and uses better. high intake of synthetic folic acid can mask vitamin B12 deficiency.

The solution: real food. real fruits, veggies, proteins, and whole grains already come with vitamins and minerals that your body recognizes and absorbs best.

Check the labels. It can be a slow change over because literally everything in big box grocery stores are “enriched” or “fortified”.

If you’re local, @greendogmarketwb has the BEST options. It’s so nice not having to look at the labels because it’s REAL food. ❤️
